Sending Twitter status updates with Ruby

Although there is a Twitter-gem to talk to the Twitter webservices you can save that dependency. The interface of the Twitter update service is very simple so you can update Twitter accounts very easily without a library.

Here is the code I use for sending updates of my little weather station to my twitter account. You get the response from the Twitter service as a Ruby hashtable for easy access.

Eine Wetterstation mit Wolkensensor und Internet-Anschluß

Da das Wetter im Augenblick grauenerregend ist suchte ich nach einem neuen Projekt für die regnerischen Tage (wenn ich keine Lust aufs Spiegelschleifen habe). Inspiriert von Matthias Bopps Wolkensensor überlegte ich mir, ob es möglich wäre etwas zu bauen um den Wolkensensor über den Laptop abzulesen.

Die Hardware:

Sphärentest mit der Filzstiftprobe

Spätestens, wenn man mit dem Carbo 180 dem Ende entgegen geht und auf Carbo 320 wechseln will, muss der Rohling annähernd sphärisch sein. Gröbere Fehler wird man mit dem schon puderfeinen Carbo 320 nicht mehr ausgleichen können.
Wie geht nun dieser Test vonstatten? Erstaunlicherweise ist dieser Test äußerst simpel und ziemlich empfindlich.

Erster Schritt:
Man malt mit einem Permanent-Filzstift (er muss unbedingt wasserfest sein!) ein Gitternetz auf den Rohling. Das muss nicht schön sein. Es muss nur bis zum Rand reichen.
